Continuity Mod – Bring Seamless Textures to Minecraft

Continuity Mod enhances Minecraft’s visual quality by enabling smooth connected textures and emissive effects for compatible resource packs. It helps glass, decorative blocks, and detailed builds appear more refined, consistent, and visually immersive without altering the core gameplay experience.

Continuity Mod by Pepper_Bell removes the grid lines between matching blocks. Put four glass blocks together and you get one clean window instead of four framed squares.

It also reads connected-texture, emissive and custom-layer data from resource packs made for OptiFine, so your favourite packs keep working on Fabric.

The overview

What is Continuity Mod?

Continuity is a client-side Minecraft Java Edition mod by Pepper_Bell that supports connected textures and selected OptiFine-format resource-pack features. It helps repeated blocks look like parts of a larger surface while keeping the familiar block-based style of Minecraft.

A cleaner view of your world

In a standard glass wall, each block can display its own frame. Connected textures can remove the repeated inner borders between matching blocks, allowing a window to read as one continuous surface. The same idea can give other supported materials more consistent patterns.

This is especially useful for large windows, glazed corridors and greenhouses, where repeated lines can distract from the view. You still place and break individual blocks; the change is in how supported surfaces appear.

Visual changes, familiar gameplay

Continuity focuses on texture rendering rather than adding building blocks, crafting recipes or progression systems. Its client-side effects change what you see in your own game, so another player's view depends on that player's visual setup.

Your pack defines the appearance

The final result depends on the blocks, texture rules and resource packs you enable. A compatible pack can supply connected patterns or supported emissive details. Installing the mod does not mean every block or every feature in an OptiFine resource pack will automatically change.

Resource-pack order also matters when several packs replace the same material. Start with a small wall of matching blocks and inspect the edges and corners before using a texture combination throughout a large build.

A setup that matches your game

Choose a Continuity release that supports your Minecraft version and mod loader, then install the dependencies listed for that release. Activate the intended resource packs and test your setup in a separate world. Continuity is a Java Edition mod; its Java mod file cannot be installed as a Bedrock or MCPE add-on.

Features

Features

Even this section is joined like Continuity glass — no gaps between the pieces.

01

Seamless glass

Glass blocks and panes join into clean windows out of the box with the built-in Default Connected Textures pack.

02

OptiFine packs, no OptiFine

Reads OptiFine's connected textures format, so most CTM resource packs work on Fabric.

03

Emissive textures

Supports OptiFine-style emissive textures on blocks and item models for glowing details.

04

Sandstone & bookshelves

The default pack also connects sandstone and bookshelves for smoother builds.

05

Pane culling fix

A second built-in pack fixes the inner faces of glass panes so they don't show through.

06

Client-side & light

Runs only on your game. Join any server — nothing has to be installed there.

Behind the textures

How it works

Connected textures sound complicated. Underneath, Continuity Mod does something simple: it looks at each block's neighbours and picks the right piece of texture for that spot.

01 · VanillaEvery block draws its own frame

Without the mod, each glass block has a full border, so a wall of glass looks like a grid of separate tiles.

02 · CheckLook at the neighbours

Continuity checks the blocks above, below and to each side. If a neighbour matches, that edge should disappear.

03 · ConnectDraw one seamless surface

The matching edges are dropped and the blocks render as a single connected surface — fast enough to stay out of your FPS.

Installation

Installation

Choose your loader — the steps update to match.

  1. Install the loader

Run the Fabric installer (or Quilt installer) and select your Minecraft version.Install Forge 1.20.1 or NeoForge 1.21.1 — the only versions with Continuity Forge-side builds.

  2. Add the dependencies

Download Fabric API for the same Minecraft version.Download Sinytra Connector and Forgified Fabric API for that version.

  3. Drop in Continuity

Put the Continuity .jar (the Forge or NeoForge build) and the dependencies into %appdata%\.minecraft\mods.

  4. Turn on packs

Launch the game, open Options → Resource Packs and make sure “Default Connected Textures” is enabled. Add any OptiFine-format CTM pack on top.

Continuity mod dependencies

Dependencies

Continuity only needs one other mod on Fabric. Put these in your mods folder and the result is connected glass.

  • Fabric APIRequired on Fabric and Quilt. Match it to your Minecraft version.
  • ContinuityThe mod itself — the .jar from the download section.
  • Resource pack (optional)Any OptiFine-format CTM pack. Continuity's own default pack is already built in.
  • Forge / NeoForge onlySinytra Connector + Forgified Fabric API, required by the Forge 1.20.1 and NeoForge 1.21.1 builds.

Use cases

Plan builds around uninterrupted views and consistent materials. Test the chosen blocks and pack together before expanding a design.

Windows, greenhouses and bridges

Frame a landscape with a large window, bring daylight into a greenhouse or build a glazed corridor across a valley. Beams and recessed frames can add depth around the connected surface.

Resource packs and glowing details

Use compatible packs to explore connected wall patterns and supported emissive block or item-model details. A bright-looking texture does not necessarily illuminate neighboring blocks.

Continuity Mod 1.21.9

There is no build made for 1.21.9. Mojang released 1.21.10 just days later as a hotfix, so update your game to 1.21.10 and use the 1.21.10 build.

Continuity Mod 1.21.10 & 1.21.11

Both have dedicated 3.0.1 beta builds for Fabric and Quilt. “Beta” means it's newer code — it works well for most players, but keep a backup of your world.

Compatibility / vs

A lot of players search for Continuity on Bedrock and Minecraft PE. Here's the honest answer before you download anything.

Java Edition

Continuity works here

  • Windows, macOS and Linux
  • Fabric or Quilt (Forge / NeoForge via Connector)
  • Official files on Modrinth and CurseForge
  • Works with OptiFine-format CTM packs
Bedrock · MCPE

Continuity can't run here

  • Bedrock and Minecraft PE can't load Java .jar mods
  • There is no official Continuity Mod MCPE or Bedrock version
  • “Continuity” files on MCPEDL are not this mod
  • Look for Bedrock connected-glass resource packs instead — they're separate projects by other creators

Fix common problems

Troubleshooting

Begin with a small test world and change one thing at a time. Keep the working profile available while checking a new setup.

Glass still has borders

Confirm you launched the modded profile, activate the intended connected-texture pack and test four identical glass blocks. Temporarily disable packs that replace the same material.

The game will not start

Read the loader error for the missing or incompatible component. Check the Minecraft version, loader and dependency list, and keep only the intended version of each mod in the active folder.

Textures look wrong after a change

Restore the previous resource-pack order, then reintroduce changes individually. If rendering mods are involved, check their exact release requirements rather than following instructions for a different game version.

Download and update carefully

Safety

Use the original project listing, check each file's supported version and preserve your worlds before testing a changed setup.

Check the source

Follow the author's release links and verify the project name, author and dependencies. Avoid treating a similarly named upload as the original project. Read release notes before replacing files in a working profile.

Keep a recoverable setup

Back up important saves outside the active game folder. Try new mods and packs in a separate profile and test world first. A recognizable download source does not guarantee every combination will work on your machine.

FAQs

The questions players ask most, answered in plain words.

Is Continuity Mod free?

Yes. It's free and open source under the LGPL-3.0 licence.

Does Continuity Mod work on 1.21.11?

Yes. Continuity 3.0.1-beta.1 supports Minecraft 1.21.11 on Fabric and Quilt.

Is there a Continuity Mod for 1.21.10?

Yes — 3.0.1-beta.2, for Fabric and Quilt.

What about Continuity Mod 1.21.9?

No build lists 1.21.9. Update to 1.21.10, the hotfix that followed it, and use the 1.21.10 build.

What are the Continuity mod dependencies?

On Fabric or Quilt you only need Fabric API. The Forge and NeoForge builds need Sinytra Connector and Forgified Fabric API.

Is there a Continuity Mod for Forge?

There's a Forge build for 1.20.1 and a NeoForge build for 1.21.1, both running through Sinytra Connector. Fabric remains the recommended loader.

Can I get Continuity on MCPE or Bedrock?

No. Continuity is a Java Edition mod. Bedrock and Minecraft PE can't load it, and there is no official port.

Is the Continuity Mod on MCPEDL real?

Files called “Continuity” on MCPEDL are not the Java mod by Pepper_Bell. Treat them as separate Bedrock add-ons and check them carefully.

Does it work with Sodium?

Continuity is commonly used with Sodium in Fabric modpacks. On some older versions, Sodium also needed the Indium mod for compatibility — if the game asks for Indium at launch, add it.

Do I still need OptiFine?

No — and don't install both. Continuity reads OptiFine-format CTM packs on its own.
